Richard Stephens joined the coaching staff at Northwest University prior to the 2024–25 season after building a strong reputation in the Seattle basketball community through both coaching and player development.
A Seattle native, Stephens graduated from Chief Sealth High School in 2016 and has quickly established himself as one of the region’s rising basketball coaches. He currently coaches on the Nike EYBL circuit with Seattle Rotary (NWRR), working with elite high-level prospects on one of the nation’s premier grassroots platforms.
Before joining Northwest University, Stephens served as head boys basketball coach at Chief Sealth High School from 2021–2024, where he led the program’s development and helped mentor student-athletes both on and off the court.
In addition to his basketball coaching experience, Stephens brings a strong educational background to the program through his work with Seattle Public Schools, where he served supporting special needs students. His experience as an educator reflects his commitment to mentorship, leadership, and holistic student-athlete development.
Stephens continues to play an active role in the Seattle basketball community and is widely respected for his ability to build relationships, develop talent, and positively impact young athletes.
