Pam Fink joined the NU staff as head softball coach in the fall of 2018 after 25 years at the helm of Oklahoma Baptist University and now is the all-time leader in softball wins at two colleges.
Â
In her first season at NU, the Eagles won 13 games, tying the school record for wins in a season. The team also recorded its first four-game win streak and its first Cascade Collegiate Conference sweep of an opponent.
Â
She guided her OBU teams to the 2017 National Christian College Athletics Association national championship and the NAIA National Tournament in 2002, 2003 and 2014. Fink earned the 2017 NCCAA National Coach of the Year award, as well as 2002 Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors. She left OBU after the 2018 season with 645 wins – the most wins in OBU history among women’s sports. While at OBU, the softball program generated three National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Team Top Ten awards, including the national academic champions of 2001, and produced 26 NAIA All-America Scholar Athletes.
Â
Fink graduated from OBU in 1988 with a bachelor of education degree in health, physical education and recreation after a playing career as a four-year starter at shortstop. She was a 1988 second-team All-American and was inducted into the OBU Hall of Fame in 2001. She earned a master of education degree from East Central University in 1997. As a player, she is one of only six Lady Bison softball players to earn NAIA All-America honors. She was All-District 9 for three years and holds the OBU record for season batting average. A career starter at shortstop and clean-up hitter, she is the all-time leader in assists. Her career .342 batting average is third all-time, behind two players whom she coached. She also carried a career .344 batting average against All-American pitchers, including a 1-2 outing against two-time Olympic gold medalist Michele Smith.
Â
After a year as a graduate assistant at OBU, Fink started the softball program at Sumter County Comprehensive High School and was 1990 Americus Times-Recorder All-Area Softball Coach of the Year. She also coached girls’ basketball at SCCHS.
Â
A native of Dickson, Tennessee, Fink is the wife of NU Sports Information Director Ray Fink. They have two grown children, Fletcher Davis and Collin Fink. The Finks attend CrossPointe Church in Bothell and reside in Kirkland.
Â
Coach Fink has taught Sunday School at the preschool level and volunteered as an overnight host with the Family Promise homeless ministry. She enjoys hiking, visiting National Parks, visiting with her children and spending time with her husband.
