Ken Crawford

Ken Crawford enters his ninth season in 2022-23 after taking over the women's basketball program at Northwest University for the 2013-14 season and has the best winning percentage among all NU women’s basketball coaches.

Crawford has guided the Eagles to playoff berths in four of the last six seasons. His NU teams have produced three NAIA Scholar Athletes. Crawford also serves as an instructor in the Education, History and Physical Education Departments.

NU is Crawford’s second stop in college women’s basketball. He took Biola University, which had only one previous national postseason appearance, to three consecutive NAIA Tournaments in his six seasons (2005-06 to 2010-11).  He earned Golden State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2011 and is second in BU women’s basketball coaching winning percentage and produced 13 NAIA Scholar Athletes and two NAIA All-Americans.

Crawford also established the athletic program and coached the men’s basketball team at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham.

At the high school level, Bellingham High School and R.A. Long High School have both inducted Crawford into their Halls of Fame. The BHS honor came in 2019 for his work as athletic director and coach. Long inducted him in 2017 for his work as an assistant coach. He has collected seven Coach of the Year honors from five different entities at the high school level. His high school coaching stops consist of head boys basketball coach at Bellingham, assistant boys basketball coach at R.A. Long and head girls basketball coach at Davenport High School.

Crawford’s recognition extends to the classroom and administrative roles. In his 30 years as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent, he has been honored with Masonic Award of Excellence in Education (1994), Washington Library and Media Specialist Principal of the Year in 1994, two Washington Excellence in Education Awards in 1989 (Washington Education Association and Superintendent of Public Instruction), the 1989 Western Washington University Excellence in Education Award and, in 1986, the Washington State Leadership WASSP Distinguished Service Award.

Crawford is a graduate of Whitworth College where he earned his B.A. degree and Washington State teaching certificate.
