Eagles Win Fifth Straight

NU's Jessica Oliver scored the game winner today
Box Score EUGENE, Ore. - NU senior Jessie Oliver scored the lone goal as the Eagles' defense held Northwest Christian scoreless for a 1-0 conference victory late today. It was NU's fifth straight win.

Olivers' score came in the 17th minute of the first half as Tiffany Taylor's pass created a breakaway and Oliver beat the Beacon goalkeeper to the right for the score. Neither team would score the remainder of the game and the NU defense would limit the Beacons to just 6 total shots for the game.

The win puts NU over the .500 mark with a 6-5 overall record, but most importantly, they remain unbeaten in CCC play with a 2-0 record. NCU drops to 3-7 on the season and 1-1-1 in conference play.

Patty Hughes picked up the shutout in goal for the Eagles finishing with one save. Northwest  held the edge in shots, 10-6 and had five corner kicks to the Beacons' three. Jessica Oliver and Shea Samuelsen had three shots each to lead NU while Jacque Bundtrock led the Beacons with 3 shots.

Said Coach Val Seid following the games, "Great game for the ladies. They are playing with more confidence and together as a team. It was a total team effort today as everyone played. Very positive energy--and most importantly, they were relentless the entire game."

NU has now won 6 out of 7 contests shutting out their opponents in all 6 victories.
