Yotes' Fast Starts Sweeps Eagles

Christina Gleb notched a double-double tonight against C of I
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. - The NU Eagles spotted the College of Idaho big, early leads as they fell 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-15) tonight in CCC play.

Set one proved to be the best of the night, but it didn't start out that way as the Yotes zipped out to a 16-3 lead aided by Kylee Nawahine, Elisa Brochado kills and Sierra Porter's service ace, one of her four on the night. But Northwest gathered their composure and slowly chipped away at the Yotes' lead. With C of I leading 17-4, NU would go on a 9-0 run capped off by Lara Linden's kill and Alivia Johnson's service ace to make it 17-13. The Yotes would stretch the lead back to 19-13 with two kills. NU would pull to within three at 23-20, but kills by Kylie Porter and Emily Ottinger followed by two NU attack errors would end the set in favor of the Yotes.

Another fast start by the College of Idaho in set two would give them a 17-4 lead and this time there would be no Eagle comeback as the Yotes would close out the set aided by four Eagles errors at the end for the 25-10 set victory.

The final set would be close at the outset with C of I holding a 10-7 lead. Up 17-13, the Yotes would out score NU 6-1 to pull away to a 23-14 and a lead they would not relinquish as they would even their season record at 8-8 and improve to 8-2 in CCC play.

Arika Zwack had 6 kills for Northwest U. (6-13, 2-7 CCC) while Christina Gleb led the Eagles with 18 assists and Olivia VanDlac had a team high 18 digs. Gleb also added 12 digs for Northwest for a double-double.
