Samuelsen's Goal Golden in Defeat of Concordia

Joe Galbraith stopped 12 Cavalier shots for 12 saves to aid the defense
Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – The NU Eagles battled the Concordia Cavaliers for 107 plus minutes this afternoon and it was Mack Samuelsen's golden goal that would earn Northwest the 1-0 shutout win over Concordia to solidify their spot in second place in the CCC. The two teams came into today's game tied for second with 6-2 records.

Stepping in for a steal in Concordia's attacking third, Adam Loga one-timed a 45-yard lob to a dashing Samuelsen, who then chipped the ball over CU goalkeeper Scott Gross for the lone goal of the match at 107:45.

Northwest goalkeeper Joe Galbraith had another stellar day in goal for Northwest as he grabbed 12 saves. 4 important saves in the overtime periods. Concordia held a sizeable edge on shots, 19-8, but the Eagle defense and Galbraith refused to give up a goal. Samuelsen led NU with 2 shots including the game winner.

"We accomplished what we wanted to do today," said Gary McIntosh, NU head coach. "Our entire team played with composure and Mack Samuelsen came through for us when we really needed a score with a perfect shot. Joe Galbraith was fantastic in goal for us coming up with save after save. It was a total team effort today as players stepped in for injured players and gave us a great effort."
