Eagles Post 12th Victory with Win Over WPC

Do-Hee Kim scored the game winner for the Eagles tonight
Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior Do-Hee Kim scored the game winner in the 60th minute to help lift Northwest University to a 2-1 CCC victory over Warner Pacific tonight and post their 12th win of the season solidifying their hold on first place in the conference. The win gives NU 30 points with Corban sitting in second place with 26.

The game began in Warner Pacific as an unfortunate own goal by the Eagles gave the Knights a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the game. No to be deterred, the Eagles pressed on and Adam Loga's cross found teammate Edgar Esquivel for his 5 yard flick to tie the score at the 17:01 mark. Defense was the key for Northwest U. as they allowed just 3 WPC shots in the half.

Both defenses toughened and it would be Hunter Madich lofting a pass into the box where Do-Hee Kim settled and scored the game winner at 59:35. The Eagle defense and goalkeeper Joe Galbraith would hold Warner Pac scoreless the remainder of the way for the win.

Northwest U. (12-4, 10-2) outshot Warner pacific (4-10, 3-9) 13-9 with Jacob Weaver leading the Eagles with 6 shots and Kim with 4 shots and the game winner. Joe Galbraith's scoreless streak was halted at 391 minutes with the WPC goal. He finished with 3 saves on the night.

"We know everyone is going to play us tough from this point on," said NU head coach, Gary McIntosh. "Warner came out and pressured us all game and we did a good job handling that pressure. I felt the guys had great composure and showed great resolve today. Defense was great and the offense did its job by scoring two goals. I'm proud of the effort these young men played with today."

The Eagles return to Kirkland and will host in-state rival Evergreen on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. on the NU Athletic Field.
