Box Score KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The NU Eagles fell to Oregon Tech in three sets (26-24, 25-23, 25-16) in conference play tonight.
The first set was the tightest of the night as the teams battled back and forth for the lead. On the sixth tie of the set at 11-11, Oregon Tech would gain the upper hand after two straight Eagles errors to go up 13-11. Four more NU miscues would give Tech a 17-12 lead, but the Eagles would fight back to cut the OIT lead to 21-20 on a Rae Ann Haistings kill. The Eagles would take the lead 23-22 after a Molly Boyle kill and two OIT errors. Tech would tie it up at 24-all after a Northwest error and and would take the set on Kelsey Sampson's kill and a final NU error.
The second set would just as close as the first with ties and lead changes. NU would hold a 23-21 lead after Dakota Adams' kill and Arika Zwack's service ace, but a 4-0 final run by the Owls including three straight NU attack errors would give the set to OIT.
It looked like the Eagles were headed to a third set win as they jumped out to a 13-9 lead, but 8 straight Owl points would out them ahead 17-13 as they would outscore the Eagles 8-3 to win the set and the match.
"We had a good effort tonight but couldn't overcome our errors. Oregon Tech played a solid match, though, and deserved the win."
NU now travels west to Ashland for tomorrow night's match with Southern Oregon at 7 p.m.
