No. 1 Concordia Prevails in Title Game Over Eagles

Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – No. 1 Concordia and Northwest met for the third straight year in the CCC championship final and for the third straight year, Concordia prevailed, 3-0, to win the title and advance to the NAIA national tournament. Concordia finishes the year with a 17-1-1 record while the Eagles complete the season with a 10-8-2 mark.

The Cavaliers didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard as McKayla Madison scored with a header off a CU corner kick 4:27 into the game. Less than a minute later, CU's Hannah Scott extended the Cav lead to 2-0 with her shot from 23 yards out from the left side. In the 30th minute Concordia would get their third and final goal Alex Blalock stole a bad clear from NU and beat NU goalkeeper, Patty Hughes one-on-one, and put her shot into the left side of the net.

Concordia would outshoot the Eagles 16-7 and limit NU to 3 shots in the second half. Jessie Oliver's shot in the 87th minute would carry wide right and would be the final shot for Northwest in the game. Lauren Patefield would replace Patty Hughes in goal for the Eagles at 74:33 in the second half. Hughes would leave the game with 4 saves and Patefield would have one save in the second half.

Said Coach Val Seid following the game, "It was a disappointing loss tonight. Our ladies played hard and refused to down without a battle. We have a lot of upside looking forward. Now, we'll get back to work and prepare for next year."
