Box Score
PORTLAND, Ore. – A late goal in the 88th minute lifted No. 18 Westmont College to a 2-1 victory over Northwest University tonight in a non-conference game.

Tiff Dimaculangan headed the ball past the Northwest U. goalkeeper off a corner kick by teammate Jenny Martinez at the 87:10 mark for the game winner.

Westmont took an early 1-0 lead when Alison Hensley headed in a corner kick from Jenny Martinez in the 19th minute. At the 29:16 mark, NU's Acacia Johnson would score the equalizer as she broke free up the field, beat a Westmont defender to trickle the ball past the Warrior goalkeeper for the score. The defenses would hold as the half would end with the tie.

In the second half, Westmont would miss a score in the 55th minute when Mallory Mitchell's shot would hit the crossbar.

Northwest (0-4-0) was held without a shot in the second half as the Warriors held a 24-5 shot difference. It was NU's defense that held strong as Patty Hughes had 5 saves in goal for the Eagles.

Westmont (2-0-1) was led by Jenny Martinez's 7 shots and two assists while Lindsay Smith earned the win in goal for the Warriors.

"Our women played well," said Val Seid, NU head coach. "Westmont was a very organized team. The heart of our team is great! The team has the desire to be their best and it is just fun to watch them play these tough teams and make them have to beat us. It was a battle."

Northwest will travel to Spokane next weekend for the CCC-Frontier Challenge and will face Carroll on Sept. 6 and Rocky Mountain on Sept. 7.
