Eagles Rebound with 3-1 Win Over NCU

Box Score EUGENE, Ore. - The NU Eagle men rebounded from their tough loss on Wednesday with a convincing 3-1 victory over Northwest Christian this afternoon in conference play.

Josh Guerrero scored in the 27th minute off a deflected cross to give NU the 1-0 lead. Taylor Young with the assist. Then, in the second half, Jonathan Ellis scored at 51:08 as he put one in from 5 yards out off a rebound with teammate Mike Bowman getting credit for the assist.

Northwest Christian game back at the 60:44 mark when Austin Crook scored on a free kick as he bent the ball around the NU wall for the score. Crook was fouled right outside the 18 yard mark.

Guerrero scored again on a 5 yard strike in the 77th minute as Brendon Wheeler put a long sideline pass to Todd Siedenburg who crossed it to Guerrero for the game clincher.

Northwest (5-3-0, 3-1 CCC) picked up the pace and pressed hard in the second half out shooting the Beacons 15-4 and holding a 21-7 shot lead overall.  Joe Galbraith had 3 saves on the day and earned the win for the Eagles in goal. NU limited the Beacons to just one corner kick while they had 10 attempts.

"We didn't play our game in the first half, so we didn't create too many scoring opportunities for ourselves. But, the guys came out in the second half and really took it to them."

The Eagles return to Kirkland and will face Warner Pacific in another CCC match-up on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 4:00 p.m.
