The Eagles celebrate their big win over Concordia tonight
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University came back strong after dropping the first set to defeat Concordia 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-21) for a big CCC win tonight in the NU Pavilion.

The first set was close the entire way with NU taking an early 10-9 lead. Northwest U came back in the second set with a fast start as they took a 14-9 lead.  The Cavaliers would close the gap to two, 21-19 late in the set, but the Eagles would outscore CU 4-1 as Mattie Jo Johnson's kills would give the set to NU.

It looked as though Concordia would turn the tables on NU in the third set as they would break out to a 10-5 lead. Back would come the Eagles on a 6-1 run as Olivia VanDlac's service ace would tie the score at 11-11. After four more ties, Mattie Jo Johnson would break a 16-16 tie as NU would take the lead for good, outscoring the Cavaliers 9-5 as Dakota Adams would end the set with her kill.

The final set was tightly contested as the teams battled back and forth for the lead.  CU led 10-8 after Brianna Hogan's kill. Lindsey Dorsey's kill would increase the CU lead to 17-13, but the young Eagles would continue to scrap and three straight miscues by CU would tie the score at 21-all. Two more errors by Concordia and kills by Hannah Hanson and Dakota Adams would give the upset victory to Northwest U.

Dakota Adams led Northwest U (11-13, 4-9 CCC) with 15 kills and a .333 hitting average. Amanda Waterman added 13 kills and 13 digs for her double-double and Mattie Jo Johnson contributed 10 kills for the Eagles. Brooke Riddle had 27 assists for a team high with 3 service aces and Leia Roy both teams with 29 digs for the night.

Said Steven Bain, NU head coach after the match, "Concordia puts a lot of pressure on you with their serving and defense, so I was pleased with our ability to stay on task and maintain our composure.  When you can do that for an entire match you have the chance to be successful and tonight we were rewarded with the win."
