Odason Pelogi and Branson Corwin scored in the Eagles win tonight
Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Northwest University's Odason Pelogi broke a 0-0 scoreless tie in the 67th minute to help lift the Eagles to a 2-0 Cascade Conference win over Warner Pacific tonight. With the win Northwest U improves to 9-2 overall and 5-2 in CCC play which puts them in a tie for second place.

The first half proved to be a defensive battle between the teams as they combined for 11 shots and none would find the mark.

Warner Pacific came out pressing right at the start of the second half with four shots, three shots on goal in the first 5 minutes of play with NU goalkeeper, Daniel Christenson saving all three shots on goal. Odason Pelogi then put Northwest up 1-0 as he went one-on-one with the WPC goalkeeper and scoring what proved to be the game winner.

The Eagles got the clincher at the 75:08 mark when freshman Branson Corwin took a cross from Taylor Young through the box and put it passed the Knight's keeper from 6 yards out. Mario Guizar had a shot on goal with 7 seconds remaining, but NU keeper Christenson made his 8th save of the game to preserve the shutout.

Warner Pacific (4-4-3, 3-3-1 CCC) outshot Northwest (9-2, 5-2 CCC) 17-9, with 11 shots in the second half, but Northwest U made good the 4 shots they had in the second period putting two in for scores. NU had 6 corner kicks to WPC's 1. Daniel Christenson earns the shutout for Northwest with 8 saves, 7 coming in the second half.

Said Gary McIntosh, NU head coach, "I felt we played well tonight in all aspects of the game. Our defense was excellent today and Daniel (Christenson) was solid in goal for us, making big saves and the shut out is what we set out to accomplish. Odi (Pelogi) came off the bench today and scored the game winner and he was a key factor in our win.  This was a complete game for us from start to finish.  I'm really proud of how we played."

The Eagles return home to Kirkland and will host Evergreen in another key CCC match-up on Saturday at 3 p.m.
