Eagle Men Win 14th Game of the Season

NU's Branson Corwin scored two goals including the game winner
Box Score EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman Branson Corwin scored a goal in each half as Northwest University (14-3, 10-3 CCC) shutout Northwest Christian 3-0, in Cascade Conference action tonight for their 14th win of the season.

Corwin broke a 0-0 tie in the 49th minute as he scored from 5 yards out after taking a cross on a double assist from Jacob Weaver and Odason Pelogi. The 1-0 lead held for 28 minutes until Corwin scored his second goal of the game as he scored 15 yards out on the left side after a volley and assist from teammate Hunter Madich.

Taylor Young put the finish on the shutout with just 1:40 to go in the game when he took Kyle Zimmerman's through ball and scored his 11th goal of the season from 5 yards out.

The Eagle defense and goalkeeper Daniel Christenson kept Northwest Christian (4-11-2, 3-9-1 CCC) out of the goal stopping 11 shots with Christenson getting 5 saves, 4 in the second half. Max Torres, the NCU keeper, had to deal with 18 Eagle shots, saving 9 of them. Young led NU with 5 shots, 3 shots on goal.
It was a physical game, with 19 fouls whistled, seven of them yellow cards.

"This was a total team win today," said Gary McIntosh, NU head coach. "We came out a bit sluggish and struggled to get good looks but we just kept working and played are way into the game.  Branson (Corwin) was great off the bench for two goals but especially the first one to get us in the board.  Our defense and Daniel (Christenson) were great as they recorded another shut out.  I was real pleased with the way we played in the second half and it is a good win on the road at a tough place to play."

Northwest U will return home and finish the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 8 when they play host to Warner Pacific at 11 a.m.
