Eagles Sprint by Geoducks for Sweep

Amanda Waterman led the Eagles with 12 kills in the sweep of ESC
Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. – It only took one hour and 18 minutes for the NU Eagles to sweep Evergreen 2-0 (28-26, 25-21, 25-18) and win their final regular season Cascade Conference match.

Northwest U held onto a narrow lead for most of the first set, but Evergreen came back to tie it 23-23 after a kill by ESC's Kelsey Delagrange and an NU attack error. The Geoducks would take two brief leads at 2-4-23 and 25-24, but NU would come back to tie the set and take the lead for good on a kill by Amanda Waterman and Rae Ann Haistings. ESC would tie it once more at 26-all, but two straight Rae Ann Haistings' kills would give the tight set to the Eagles.

Set two would be close in the early going with four ties, but the Eagles would go on a 4-0 run on a Hannah Hanson kill, two service aces by Brooke Riddle and a Haistings kill. Evergreen would battle back to tie it at 20-20, but NU would regain the lead on a ESC error and Haistings' kill going on to outscore the Geoducks 5-1 to go up 2-0 in the match.

Evergreen fought hard in the third set which would see seven ties. With the set in its final tie at 12-12, NU would outscore ESC 10-2 to take a commanding 22-14 lead which they would never give up as Hannah Hanson's kill and an ESC attack error would end the set and the match giving the Eagles the sweep.

Freshman Amanda Waterman led Northwest (15-14, 8-10 CCC) with 12 kills and 6 digs. Morgan Pilon finished with 17 assists and teammate Brooke Riddle had 14 assists.  Leia Roy had 9 digs to lead the team. NU hit .277 as a team and blocking 14 Evergreen shots.

Evergreen (14-18, 4-14 CCC) was led by Nicole Diehl's 15 kills and .500 hitting percentage. Jaclyn Trinque led with a match high 32 assists while Natimia Barker-Doss totaled  14 digs for the Geoducks.
