Eagle Volleyball Heads into Quarterfinals

LA GRANDE, Ore. – With the final weekend of play completed, the matchups are finally set for the 2014 Cascade Collegiate Conference Volleyball Championship presented by U.S. Bank. Action will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014. The NU Eagle volleyball team is back in post-season play after a two year absence and will travel to Caldwell Tuesday to take on the College of Idaho, the No. 4 seed. NU is seeded 5th.
 
With identical conference records, No. 11 Eastern Oregon University (26-3, 16-2 CCC) and No. 13 Southern Oregon University (22-4, 16-2 CCC), have been declared regular season Co-Champions and earn a first round bye in the upcoming tournament.
 The Mountaineers and Raiders split the season series with both teams earning a victory. EOU's 3-1 win on November 1st edged out SOU's 3-2 win on September 26th propelling EOU to the top seed through the conference tiebreaker criteria. SOU will be seeded second in the tournament.
 
 Concordia University earns the third-seed and a first-round home game. The Cavaliers posted a record of 17-8 overall and 14-4 in conference play and will host one of two opening round games on Tuesday night.
 
The College of Idaho is the fourth seed with a record of 13-5 in conference action this season and 16-11 overall. The Yotes will host the other opening round game on Tuesday.
 
Northwest University secured the fifth seed after defeating Evergreen on Friday night. The Eagles earned a trip to the postseason with a record of 15-14 overall and 8-10 in conference play.  NU opens the postseason at fourth-seed The College of Idaho.
 
The sixth and final seed goes to Oregon Tech. The Owls are 21-13 on the season, including 7-11 in Cascade Conference action.  OIT will head to Portland to take on third-seed Concordia on Tuesday in the tournament's first round. The contest will be a rematch of tonight's final regular season game against the Cavaliers in Klamath Falls.
 
First-round games will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. PST in Portland, Ore. and 3 p.m. MST in Caldwell, Idaho. The two advancing teams will travel to La Grande, Ore. to take on top-seed Eastern Oregon and second-seed Southern Oregon in the semifinal round at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. PST on Friday.  The two semifinal winners will meet at 3 p.m. PST on Saturday for the conference's automatic spot in the 2014 NAIA National Championship.
