Eagles Fall to #2 Warriors

Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - #2 ranked Westmont College broke a 1-1 halftime tie with three second half goals to defeat Northwest University 4-1, this morning in non-conference action.
 
Westmont's Mallory Mitchell put the Warriors ahead at the 25:06 mark as she headed in a cross from teammate Carly Holly from 2 yards out. Acacia Johnson (Puyallup, Wash.) tied the game for Northwest U as she dribbled up the middle and beat the Westmont keeper for an open goal score in the 30th minute. The score remained tied as the teams headed into halftime.
 
The game remained tied until the 58th minute when Tiffany Dimaculangan gave Westmont the lead with her goal as she scored from 8 yards out in the middle after beating an NU defender. Mallory Mitchell scored her second goal of the game at 62:11 as she scored from the right touch line, 5 yards out putting the Warriors up 3-1. Two minutes later, it was Christine Adams putting the capper on the game with her 3 yard header from Sophie Fuller at the 64:42 mark.
 
The Warriors (2-0) dominated the shot column with a 25-6 advantage and had 8 corners to Northwest's (1-2) three. Senior Patty Hughes (Kalispell, Mont.) had a game high 11 saves in goal for NU while Lauren Dorr and Amber Rojas combined for 2 saves for Westmont.
 
Northwest U will return to Kirkland and will play Puget Sound in Tacoma on August 29.
