Eagles Tie Wildcats

Box Score ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Northwest University played host Central Washington to a 1-1 tie this afternoon in non-conference play. It was the first tie of the season for NU and the game was an exhibition for CWU and will not count against their season record.

Rachel Saleen gave Northwest U the early 1-0 lead with her goal in the 7th minute of the game as she dribbled past 6 Wildcat defenders for the score. The game defense then took charge and neither team could manage a score until the 80:49 mark when CWU's Vasina Victoriya scored the tying goal putting in a rebound off the cross bar.

Northwest U (1-2-1) dominated possession in the first half out shooting CWU 11-6, but Central Washington turned the tables on NU in the second with a 13-5 shot margin. NU's goalkeeper, Patty Hughes had 9 saves in goal for the Eagles. Acacia Johnson led NU with 6 shots, 2 on goal. Victoriya had 5 shots and her one shot on goal which tied the score.

The Eagles next travel to Tacoma this Sunday to take on Puget Sound in another non-conference game.
