C of I Sweeps NU, Eagles Battle

The Eagle played C of I to a close, 58 point first set
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – The College of Idaho (RV) was pushed a little by Northwest University, but it was the Yotes rising to the occasion and coming out on top 3-0 (30-28, 25-4, 25-22) to defeat the Eagles in the NU Pavilion tonight.
 
14 ties highlighted the close opening set which saw 58 points scored. Northwest had two opportunities to win the set at 26-25 and 28-27, but the C of I came through in the clutch with big plays to keep the set alive. Dakota Adams would put NU up 26-25 with her kill, but C of I's Emily Ottinger answered with two straight kills to put the Yotes in front 27-26. Two straight attack errors by the Yotes would would put NU up 28-27, but Bailee Kendall, Janessa Koelliker and Katy Robinson would score three straight kills to give the first set win to C of I, 30-28
 
Set two was all College of Idaho as they bolted out to a 13-1 lead forcing NU errors. Three Eagle errors and a kill by Katy Robinson would make it 25-4 as the Yotes cruised to the second set win.
 
Northwest regained their composure in the third set after the C of I took a commanding 14-6 lead and the young Eagles would then outscore the Yotes 11-6 to make it 20-17 after Olivia VanDlac's service ace. With C of I leading 22-18, three straight kills by Northwest U would close the gap to one, 22-21. A kill by Alaina Slater, an error by NU and Sierra Porter's kill would give C of I the set and the match.
 
Northwest U (0-3, 7-7) freshman Amanda Waterman led the team with 12 kills and 9 digs. Freshman Morgan Pilon had 12 assists and sophomore Leia Roy led the Eagles with 17 digs.
 
Emily Ottinger led the College of Idaho with a match high 14 kills while Sierra Porter racked up a match high 34 assists. Kilee Lopez had 21 digs for the Yotes who hit .231 as a team tonight.
 
Northwest U remains at home and will host #14 Eastern Oregon tomorrow night as C of I travels to Olympia to play Evergreen in more Cascade Conference play.
