Young and Wheeler Named CCC Players of the Week

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LA GRANDE, Ore. – Northwest University's Taylor Young and Brendon Wheeler have been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference offensive and defensive players of the week as announced by the league office today. Senior Acacia Johnson earned honorable mention honors for women's soccer offensive player of the week and teammate Patty Hughes also earned honorable mention for defensive player of the week recognition.
 
Men's Soccer-Defensive
Wheeler, a junior from Snohomish, Wash., was key in the two shutouts of Walla Walla University last week as he anchored the Eagle defense which allowed just five WWU shots in two games.
 
Men's Soccer-Offensive
Young, a senior from Bellevue, Wash., scored two goals and had two assists in the NU wins over Walla Walla last week bringing his season total to 4 goals and 4 assists in as many games. The Eagle team captain is the CCC assist leader.
 
Women's Soccer - Offensive
The Eagles' senior Acacia Johnson from Puyallup, Wash., earned honorable mention honors for women's soccer offensive player of the week. Johnson scored in each half in the NU 2-0 shutout of previously unbeaten Carroll College on Friday afternoon. Johnson leads the team with 5 goals this season for 10 points.

Women's Soccer - Defensive
Senior goalkeeper Patty Hughes of Kalispell, Mont., also earned honorable mention honors for the women's defensive player of the week award. Hughes made founr key saves in the second half to help preserve the win and earn the shutout against Carroll.
