Corban's Lone Goal Defeats NU

Whitney Weaver, NU freshman
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. - One goal is all that was needed today as Corban earned a shutout with a 1-0 victory over Northwest University in league play.
Emma Kosmala scored the game winner 41:38 into the first half as she took Emily Larick's pass and scored from 7 yards out on a corner kick by teammate Dani Morseman.

Northwest U would have several near misses at scores, but the ball would refuse to enter the net for the Eagles.

Sheyenne Brusven earned the clean sheet for Corban (6-10-1, 3-6-1 CCC) finishing with four saves in goal. Lauren Patefield made five saves for Northwest U (6-9-2, 5-4-1).

Shots taken were even at 13 for each team with Gabriela de Andrade leading both teams with four shots, two on goals for Northwest U. Corban dominated the corner kicks with 11 to NU's 5.

Commented NU coach, Val Seid, "It was a tough loss for the ladies this afternoon. We came out flat in the first half struggling to find our rhythm. We also gave them too many corner kicks and when you do that, you're bound to give up a goal. Our second half was much better, but we still couldn't find capitalize on our opportunities. I was proud to see our ladies fight hard in the second half and put the pressure on Corban. We just need to play a full 90."

The Eagles wrap up the regular season tomorrow with a 2 p.m. game with Northwest Christian and it will be Senior Day for five NU seniors who will be honored, along with their families in a ceremony by the team.
