NU Posts 3-0 Win Over Owls

Kylie Garrison put two goals up on the scoreboard in the first half
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Playing just their second home game this season, Northwest University shutout Oregon Tech 3-0 this afternoon in Cascade Conference play. Kylie Garrison led NU with two goals, both coming in the first half.

Garrison got things started early for Northwest U as she one touched a cross from Madison Nortune in from 7 yards out on the left side just 2:41 into the game. Both teams would miss opportunities for the next 32 minutes and it would be Garrison again as she would take Kortney Hudak's lob over the top of the Tech defense to score from the left side, 8 yards out. NU would hold onto a 2-0 lead at halftime taking seven shots to OIT's five for the period.

Gabriela De Andrade would put the Eagles up 3-0 at the 53:59 mark on a breakaway from midfield and she would beat the OIT goalkeeper at the 17 yard mark for a shot from 15 yards out on the left side for the goal.

Northwest U goalkeeper, Lauren Patefield, would make a key save on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute as she would stop Bailey Pimental's shot to maintain the shutout. Oregon Tech pressed hard in the second half creating 12 shots and forcing Patefield to make six saves.

Oregon Tech (5-6-1, 3-4 CCC) held a slim edge in shots with a 17-16 margin and managed sic corner kicks to Northwest U's two, but the defensive play of NU's back line and Patefield in goal, earned the shutout. Andrade had four shots for Northwest U while three Owls had three shots each for Tech.

Said NU head coach, Val Seid, "It was a great team win today, with everyone getting time on the field. OIT was a tough team that came out to play. Our ladies executed our game plan very well – it was just fun to watch them play together and they truly looked like they were having fun. Our team pushed through and got the well-earned shutout win."

Northwest U remains at home on Saturday and will host Southern Oregon in the second game of a doubleheader with the men's team. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. Oregon Tech moves on to take on the Evergreen State College in Olympia Saturday afternoon.
