Madison Nortune scored the Eagles' first goal in the 3-1 win
Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. – The NU Eagle women scored two goals in the first half on their way to a 3-1 Cascade Conference victory over the Evergreen State College this afternoon.

Northwest U would go up 1-0 in the 18th minute on a goal by freshman Madison Nortune scoring off a corner kick by teammate Tiffany Taylor who was credited for the assist.

The Eagle would increase their lead on a penalty kick by Garbiela De Andrade at the 20:35 mark after an NU player was fouled in the box on a corner kick. NU would take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

De Andrade would get another scoring attempt on a PK just 45 seconds in to the second half, but her shot was saved by Evergreen's goalkeeper, Alison Mackey. Another De Andrade shot would be saved by Mackey in the 55th minute.

Kylie Garrison would score Northwest U's third goal three seconds after her header hit the cross bar at the 66:35 mark.

Evergreen would finally get on the scoreboard in the 84' on a penalty kick after NU fouled in the box.

Northwest U (3-6-1, 2-1 CCC) dominated the shots with a 20-11 margin with Andrade leading the way with six shots, five on goal. Freshman Whitney Weaver had four shots with Kylie Garrison getting three shots, two on goal for the Eagles. Lauren Pate field earned the win for NU making four saves for the day.  Kayla Basket and Alison Mackey shared time in goal for Evergreen totaling eight saves.

"It was nice see our ladies come out hard in the first half today," stated Val Seid, NU head coach. "We need to work on playing a complete game to put teams away. Credit Evergreen for making some adjustments in the second half which kept us busy, but we live to see another day with the win."
 
The Eagles will now have a break until October 9 when they play at home for only the second time this season hosting Oregon Tech.
