Game Day Sept 4

Men's Soccer

Game Day for Eagle Volleyball and Men's Soccer

PORTLAND, Ore., and SPOKANE, Wash. - Eagle athletes are in action again today in Oregon and Washington as the NU volleyball team opens Cascade Conference play against Warner Pacific in the Rose City tonight at 7 p.m., and the Eagle men are in Spokane to play a non-league game with Whitworth at 1:30 p.m.
The volleyball team is off to a good start with a 4-2 preseason record going into tonight's match with the Knights. WPC is 2-0 thus far with a non-league win over New Hope Christian and a CCC victory over newcomer Multnomah. They dropped an exhibition to St. Martin's in another non-counting contest. Saturday night, the Eagles take on the Lions from Multnomah. They just joined the CCC this year along with Walla Walla.
The Eagle men's soccer team is looking to get into the win column after dropping their season openers in tough match-ups with Biola and No. 8 ranked Vanguard last weekend in Southern California. It won't be any easier today as the Whitworth Pirates are 1-1-2 in exhibition games in the preseason, so this will be the season opener for them today. They lost 2-0 to NCAA Division I Gonzaga, and tied St. Martin's and Western Washington, two NCAA Division II teams in non-counting games. Saturday, the Eagles remain in Spokane and will play Pacific from Forest Grove, Ore., at 2 p.m., at Whitworth.
