Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The NU Eagles, playing their second straight road game this week, swept Walla Walla University 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-13), to improve to 8-2 in conference play and remained tied with Corban for second place in the Cascade Conference.

The home team Wolves made it tough going for the Eagles early as NU held on to an 11-10 lead, but three kills by the Eagles and three attack errors by Walla Walla built NU's lead to 17-10. The Eagles outscored the Wolves 8-6 at the end to take set one.

The second set also remained close with Northwest U holding on to a 14-11 lead. Keann White and Amanda Waterman scored back-to-back kills to make 20-14 as NU would allow just one more WWU point as they would go on to take the set.

In the final set, the Eagles would lead the entire way going on a 4-0 run after leading 18-8 to take a commanding 22-8 lead capped off by a service ace by Leia Roy. Kills by Amanda Waterman and Roy would give the set and match to the Eagles.

Northwest U (10-4, 8-2 CCC) would score on 6 service aces with Brooke Riddle leading the way with three aces. Amanda Waterman had 6 kills with Morgan Pilon leading the match with 26 assists. Mattie Jo Johnson and Hannah Hanson each had 5 kills with Leia Roy coming up with 11 digs. NU hit .349 as a team tonight.

Maria Darling led Walla Walla (1-12, 0-9 CCC) with 7 kills and 8 digs. Carly Ursino had 12 digs and Krista Shafer had a team high 13 assists.

"The Wolves came out with energy and it was tight early," said Steven Bain, NU head coach. "Once we stabilized in serve-receive, though, we had a strong night offensively and were able to side out at a high level. Our defense was also good tonight as we were able to force them into a lot of tough swings with some tough serving."

NU will be at home next Friday when they host Southern Oregon in the Pavilion.
