Eagles Down Beacons in Four Sets

Box Score EUGENE, Ore. – After dropping the first set, the NU Eagles came back to take the next three sets for a 3-1 (15-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-19) Cascade Conference victory this afternoon in the Morse Event Center.
 
It looked as though it may be a long day for the Eagles as the Beacons jumped out to a 12-6 lead in set one and would lead the entire way enroute to a 25-15 win hitting for a .310 average while limiting the Eagles to .108.
 
But, back would come the Eagles in set two to break out to a 14-9 lead in the second set. A kill by Dakota Adams and service ace by Alysanne Van Dyke would give NU a 20-12 lead as Morgan Pilon's kill would end the set in the Eagles' favor.
 
Set three would be a little tighter but Northwest U would lead the entire way as they would lead 19-13 early after an Amanda Waterman service ace. An NCU kill would close the gap to 22-21 and the Beacons would tie the set at 22-22 on an Eagle attack error, but a kill by Amanda Waterman and two straight NCU miscues would give the set to NU, 25-22.
 
In the final set, the Eagles would waste no time in getting out to an 11-3 lead. Two straight NCU points would close the gap to 14-10, but another Waterman kill and NCU attack error would make it a 19-12 set as the Eagles would go on to take the set and match.
 
Amanda Waterman scored another double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs with a .261 hitting percentage. Hannah Hanson added 9 kills and Morgan Pilon had a match high 43 assists with 12 digs for her double-double. Alysanne Van Dyke led NU with a game high 27 digs. The Eagles were tough at the net with 10.5 blocks.
 
Northwest Christian (9-13, 7-9 CCC) was led by Taylor Burnett's 14 kills and 14 digs. Kendall Bergsten had 11 kills and teammate Maci Beierle had a double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs for the Beacons.
