Hudak's Game Winner Lifts Eagles Over Beacons

Box Score EUGENE, Ore. – NU's Kortney Hudak score the game winning goal in the 62nd minute to help lift the Eagles to a 2-1 CCC victory on the final day of the regular season. With the win, NU earns the No. 5 seed going into next week's CCC post season tournament in Springfield, Ore., and will face No. 4 seed Eastern Oregon.
 
Hudak's game winner came on a nifty give and go combo pass from Jalisa Santiago and Madison Nortune as she scored from 5 yards out.
 
Northwest Christian would come back to tie the game at the 22:36 mark when Joceline Howard would score unassisted as she would rebound her own corner kick and put her shot into the side of the net from the baseline.
 
After the teams battled to a 1-1 tie in the first half, Hudak would score her goal from Tatyana Reveles corner kick for the game winner.
 
Northwest U (10-5-2, 6-3-2 CCC) would create 14 shots while the defense would limit the Beacons to five shots for the game and only one shot on goal. Lauren Hellum earned the shutout in goal for NU while Whitney Weaver and Jubilee Zevenbergen each took three shots for NU.
 
For Northwest Christian (7-10-1, 4-6-1 CCC), Katie Hastings made three saves in goal to take the loss and Joceline Howard led the way for the Beacons with two shots, one on goal with the score.
 
Commented Bryan Chud, NU head coach, "After our tough loss yesterday, we wanted to respond well, and I felt we did just that. I am incredibly proud of the effort we put in today as we moved the ball well, defended with discipline, and played the kind of game that has come to define us this season. We have had a good season, and now we can take this momentum into the playoffs."
