Zevenbergen's Hat Trick Lifts Eagles Over Owls

Jubilee Zevenbergen scored all three goals for the Eagles today
Box Score KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Northwest University's Jubliee Zevenbergen scored a hat trick as the Eagles defeated Oregon Tech 3-1, in Cascade Conference play this afternoon.

Zevenbergen, a sophomore forward from Lynnwood, Wash., scored her first goal just 6:32 into the first half to put Northwest U in the lead, 1-0. Oregon Tech failed to clear the ball and Jaclyn Metz sent a cross across the box where Zevenbergen scored into the lower left of the goal. Neither team would find the goal the remainder of the half in the twelve total shots taken.

Three minutes and 16 seconds into the second half, Zevenbergen would strike again on an unassisted goal to make it 2-0. Then, at the 51:51 mark, she would score again as she would put a shot from inside the box, past the OIT keeper, for the 3-0 lead.

Oregon Tech would persist and finally get on the scoreboard in the 59th minute when Kylie Cowell would put her shot in from the top of the box past Eagle goalkeeper Lauren Hellum and a defender.

Northwest U (7-3, 3-1 CCC) outshot OIT 19-14 with 11 shots on goal. Zevenbergen and Hannah Nicholson each had four shots for the Eagles and NU keeper, Lauren Hellum made five saves in goal earning the win. Zevenbergen now has five goals and two assists tying her with Whitney Weaver for the team lead in goals scored.

Oregon Tech slips to 2-9-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the Cascade Conference. Megan Green took the loss in goal for the Owls and made 8 saves for the game.

Commented NU coach, Bryan Chud, "We moved the ball really well at times today and I'm pleased with the result. Jubilee (Zevenbergen) has been on form the past week or two and her hat trick was well earned. Now, we turn our attention towards Southern Oregon tomorrow which will be another tough test."

The Eagles will be in Ashland for a late afternoon game at 4:30 p.m., on Saturday with Southern Oregon.
