Late Raider Goal Edges Eagles

Box Score ASHLAND, Ore. Carlos Magana's shot with 1:36 remaining in the game earned Southern Oregon a 1-0 victory over Northwest U in conference play tonight in Raider Stadium. SOU improved to 7-2-2 overall and 5-1-2 in Cascade Conference play.

Magana took Ahmon Afenegus' deflected shot from 23 yards out and finished from 6 yards center for the late game winner.

The game proved to be a defensive battle throughout with the teams combining for 33 shots, 17 for SOU and 16 for Northwest U. Southern Oregon's goalkeeper, Jonathan Morales got the win making four saves in goal while Daniel Christenson was tough once again in goal for the Eagles making six saves for the game.

Kyle Zimmerman and Kieren Raney each had four shots for the Eagles who are now 5-2 in Cascade Conference play and 9-3 overall.

"I was pleased with the way we came out and played today and the guys did a great job with their energy and staying focused. They also did a good job of staying with the game plan, keeping our shape and finding our forwards. We created some good opportunities, but they just didn't go in tonight for us, so we give credit to Southern Oregon for scoring in the last minute.  Really proud of the boys playing through a tough weekend on the road."

The Eagles play their final two home games of the season on Friday and Saturday when they host Great Falls and Carroll College on the NU Athletic Field. Saturday will be the final home game for the senior members of the team.
