Eagles' Season Ends with Loss to Corban

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The 7th seeded NU Eagle men battled No. 2 seed coming up short with a 2-0 loss in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Cascade Conference Soccer Championships at Willamalane Park tonight.
 
Two first half goals by the No. 13 ranked Warriors would stand up for their victory as the Northwest U defense would tighten up and hold the CCC co-champions scoreless for 45 minutes in the second half.
 
Kemar Prince would score first as he would take Timur Zhividze's cross from the right side on the left side of the goal with a sliding finish for the 1-0 lead at 26:42. In the 29th minute it was Miguel Naves scoring into the lower right corner with a double assist from Christian Silva and Zhividze.
 
Northwest U (11-8) had three shots on goal, but they would not be able to find their mark. Corban held an edge on shots with a 19-11 margin. Daniel Christenson put in a solid game's effort with 10 saves preventing additional Corban scores. Chris Iacolucci had four shots for the Eagles, one shot on goal.
 
Jordan Farr earns the shutout in goal for Corban (17-2) with three saves. Timur Zhividze led Corban with 6 shots, 4 on goal with 2 assists. Kemar Prince had five shots, four on goal with one score.

Said NU head coach, Gary McIntosh after the game, "It's always tough to lose, but the Corban team we played tonight is a very good team and we have nothing to be ashamed of. I'm proud of the guys for what they have accomplished this season and for how we played tonight. We had four seniors who's season ended tonight and that is always tough. They will certainly be missed. The team will learn from their experiences this season and we will get back to work soon looking towards next season."
