Carroll Defeats Eagles for CCC Tournament Title

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The NU Eagle women's run to the CCC Championships title came to an end today with a 2-0 loss to No. 1 seed Carroll College at the Willamalane Sports Complex.
 
Michaela Keuffler had luck on her side with her goal in the 12th minute when her shot hit the crossbar and bounced down and in for the 1-0 lead.
 
The Fighting Saints from Helena, Montana, then picked up their second goal at the 52:27 mark when Cassidy Hammons put her 18 yard strike over NU goalkeeper Lauren Hellum off a pass from teammate Jessica Becker.
 
The Carroll defense would continue to hold the Eagles scoreless and allow just one shot on goal taken by Sharaya Roberts and stopping 11 others which were blocked or wide left or right of the goal.  Jamie Carter earned the shutout for the Saints making one save. Lauren Hellum made three saves for NU in goal today.

"Today was a tough one," said Bryan Chud, NU head coach. "We had heavy legs and never really got going. But I'm really proud of the ladies, we had a great tournament and we are looking forward to nationals."
 
NU will now await an announcement of the pairings and sites for the first round of the NAIA national tournament which begins November 19 at campus sites around the nation. 30 teams will earn the right to battle for the national championship.
