FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific's Matt Kimball put his penalty kick by Northwest University's
Daniel Christenson in the 103rd minute for a 1-0 overtime victory for the Boxers in a non-conference game tonight in Hanson Stadium. The loss is the first of the season for NU, giving them a 3-1 record while it was the season opener for Pacific (1-0).
Northwest U controlled play most of the first half as they outshot the Boxers 6-1 forcing Pacific goalkeeper Leyton Thommasen to make three of his four saves in the period. The Eagles nearly got on the scoreboard in the 9th minute when
Jacob Weaver's shot on goal was saved by Thommasen.
Chris Iacolucci shot was stopped by the Pacific keeper at 29:05 and
Kieren Raney came close to scoring with three seconds left in the first half, but Thommasen came through again with a save.
Defenses battled in the second half with each team only giving up three shots. NU's defense gave up just two shots on goal the entire contest.
Northwest U (3-1) outshot Pacific 9-7, but the Boxers held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. A total of 23 fouls were called in the game with the Eagles being called for 10 of them.
Daniel Christenson takes his first loss of the season and made one save.
Jacob Weaver took three shots for the Eagles with one shot on goal.
Pacific's goalkeeper Leyton Thommasen earned the narrow victory making four saves in the game. Keola Norton was the only Boxer to take more than one shot and totaled two for the game.

Gary McIntosh after the game, "The effort was there again today and I was pleased with how we approached this game and came ready to play. We missed on a few early chances that we must put away and, if we do, it changes the game. This game will help us learn and continue to grow as a team."
The Eagles will play their fifth straight game on the road on Friday, September 9, when they travel to Walla Walla to play Whitman College in another preseason game.
