Nicholson Scores Early as Eagles Shutout Geoducks

Hannah Nicholson scored two first half goals.
Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. – NU's Hannah Nicholson scored two goals within 20 seconds of one another and early as the Eagles would go on to shutout the Evergreen State College, 3-0, on a wet and windy afternoon in Cascade Conference play.

Nicholson's first goal came just 5:11 into the game when she scored off a pass from Madison Morrow. Just 20 seconds later, Jubilee Zevenbergen put a through ball right into Nicholson's path as she finished from 10 yards out to put the Eagles up, 2-0. The NU defense really stepped up to the task today limiting the Geoducks to just three shots for the game, two in the first half.
 
Brianna Sillivan would help put the game away in the 86th minute as she would tap in her score from right in front of the goal. Jaclyn Metz was credited for the assist.

Kat Sanchez earned the shutout for Northwest U (5-6, 2-3 CCC) while Jubilee Zevenbergen led the team in shots with 7. The Eagles dominated the shot column with a 30-3 margin. NU also had 6 corner kicks to TESC's 0.

Evergreen's (0-7-2, 0-4-1 CCC) Emily Sorenson took the loss in goal for the Geoducks making 4 saves for the day.

"Today was all about the result for us," said Bryan Chud, Eagle head coach. "We've been playing well but haven't gotten the results we deserved. Today, we played well in difficult conditions and got two important early goals from Hannah (Nicholson) and Bri's (Brianna Sillivan) goal killed the game off for us."

Next Up: The Eagles have a bye next weekend and will resume play at home on October 13 when they host Southern Oregon.
