Eastern Oregon Falls to Eagles in Straight Sets

Box Score LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 11-ranked Eastern Oregon volleyball team had its six-match winning streak snapped on Friday as they were swept by the NU Eagles in Quinn Coliseum in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
 
The Mountaineers (18-6, 12-3 CCC) were held to their lowest hitting percentage in conference action this season, finishing at just .136 with 23 errors. Both teams finished with an even 39 kills, but the Eagles (17-6, 11-4 CCC) with the most efficient team with just 14 errors and a .221 hitting percentage.
 
The Eagles were led by Sarah Warner, who led the team with 10 kills and 14 digs to complete the double-double. Mattie Jo Johnson had 9 kills and with a .444 hitting percentage. Morgan Pilon finished with 34 assists to lead all players while Alysanne Van Dyke added 13 digs.
 
Eastern Oregon was led by Madisen Garlie who had 12 kills and 3 blocks, while hitting .348 for the match. Sophomore Megan Bunn added 8 kills. Madison Pilon had 18 assists and 9 digs.
 
Said Steven Bain, NU head coach after the match, "Eastern Oregon is obviously a terrific team, so to go into their gym and come out with a victory is significant. We had to contend with their balanced offense and tough defense all night and I'm proud of how our ladies responded when the match was on the line. What is also significant is that the team is getting a return on the physical and mental preparation they have invested in practice."
