Yotes End Eagles Streak in Straight Sets

Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho - No. 13 College of Idaho defeated the NU Eagles in straight sets (28-26, 25-17, 28-26) this evening to post their 20th victory of the season and break NU's three game win streak. NU pushed the Yotes in two 54 point sets, but C of I proved to be too much tonight.

The Yotes and Eagles battled in the first set with neither team leading by more than three points for the entire set. The Yotes picked up the hard-fought victory of 28-26 with an Ashely Pagan kill. The Yotes had the edge in attack percentage with .188 compared to .179 by the Eagles.

The Yotes wrapped up the second set easily with a score of 25-17 after starting with an early 6-1 lead, but the Eagles would use two service aces by Morgan Pilon to tie the set up 10-10. A C of I service ace and two kills would make it a 14-10 advantage and they'd lead by four or more points for the remainder of the set. They had an attack percentage of .325 compared to the Eagles' .179 in the second set and won the set, 25-17.

Similar to the first set, neither team led by more than three points for the entire set. The Yotes would battle for the match using two Eagle service errors and a Perez ace to win the set 28-26. The Yotes posted an attack percentage of .233 compared to the Eagles's .238.

Amanda Waterman led the Eagles (17-7, 11-5 CCC) with 11 kills, 8 digs and a .250 hitting percentage. Morgan Pilon had 32 assists and Alysanne Van Dyke registered 20 defensive digs for NU. The Eagles had 8 service aces tonight with Sydney Schlect leading the team with three.

From Steven Bain of NU, "C of I was very good tonight when the sets were on the line and deserve credit for closing out the match. On our side of the net, we were good from the service line and forced them into tough swing situations but we were unable to capitalize in transition and I thought that was difference in the match."

Next Up: Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon will be in Kirkland next Friday and Saturday as the Eagles celebrate Senior Night on Saturday.
