Eagles Upset Owls; Semifinal Next

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The #6 seeded Eagles upset the #3 seed, Oregon Tech, 1-0, with a late second half goal to advance to the semifinals of the CCC Championships for the second straight year.

The teams battled it out and were scoreless until the 84th minute when Jubilee Zevenbergen's shot would find its mark for the game winner. Madison Morrow came through with the timely assist on the score. For Zevenbergen, it was her only shot of the game, but what a big shot it was to lift NU to victory.

Northwest U dominated offensively with 14 shots while holding the Owls to just 6 and only 1 shot in the second half. OIT's defense limited the Eagles to just 3 shots on goal. Kat Sanchez earned the shutout making one save for the Eagles.

"We came out with a lot of energy tonight and maintained it throughout the 90 minutes," from Coach Bryan Chud. "Jubilee (Zevenbergen) has struggled to find goals this season having been very unlucky, but she is a big time player for us and she came up huge for us tonight! I am extremely proud of the ladies and we will be focused and ready to battle with Corban tomorrow night."

The Eagles will face #4 seed Corban who defeated #5 seed Southern Oregon on penalty kicks, 4-3, after finishing regulation in a 1-1 tie. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. at Willamalane Park in Springfield.
