Eagles Win Fourth Straight Match

Sarah Warner had 10 kills in the NU win
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. Keann White and Sarah Warner combined for 20 kills as Northwest University downed Warner Pacific College, 3-1  (25-19, 25-19, 24-26, 25-18), to improve to 7-3 in conference play. It was the fourth straight win for the Eagles.

The Eagles would establish themselves as they would take set one and two with an identical 25-19 score. In set one, NU would bolt to a 19-9 lead after two straight WPC errors. The Knights would close the gap to 24-19, but Amanda Waterman would end the set with her kill. The second set would almost be a mirror image of the first with NU taking a 15-9 lead early. WPC would battle back to make it a 24-19 set, but Sarah Warner's kill would close out the set, giving NU the 2-0 lead.

Set three would belong to the Knights as they would come back from being down 18-14 to tie the set three times. With the Eagles one point away from closing out the match, 24-23, Warner Pacific would end the comeback set victory scoring the final three points of the set.

In the final set, NU would lead the entire way as the Knights would make a late push to come back. Two straight kills by WPC would cut the score to 22-18, but two straight Knight miscues and a bad set at the end would give Northwest U the 25-18 set victory and the match.

White and Warner each finished with 10 kills each for Northwest U (13-5, 7-3 CCC) with Warner adding 11 kills for a double-double. Morgan Pilon had a team high 20 assists with Courteney Carr adding another 15. Alysanne Van Dyke led four Eagles in double figures in digs with 17 and teammate Amanda Waterman totaling 16.

Warner Pacific (4-6, 4-6 CCC) was led by Janessa Mast's match high 23 kills hitting .200 for the match. Kealia Rosa and Meghan Turner also had match highs with Rosa finishing with 39 assists and Turner with 22 digs. WPC was held to just .069 hitting as a team.

Said Steven Bain, NU head coach, "As evidenced by our reception errors, Warner gave us everything we could handle tonight from the service line, which forced us into a lot of tough swing situations.  Credit our ladies though for handling the adversity because offensively we kept our attacking errors low and we're still very efficient on offense. We've done some good things the first half of the season but we understand that we still have a long way to go to become the team we want to be."

Next Up: NU will remain at home and will host in-state rival Evergreen next Saturday in the NU Pavilion.
