Caldwell, Idaho – Northwest University (8-7-2, 7-2-2 CCC) beat the College of Idaho (9-4-2, 6-4-1 CCC) with a score of 2-1.
Katie Michkiosky's last minute goal lifted the Eagles to victory.
The game started poorly for the Eagles, who made a mistake early in the game to give up a 21
st minute goal. The Eagles recovered, however, shooting 11 times in the second half alone to apply pressure to the Yotes' defense. They finally broke through the scoring wall in the 81
st minute, when
Bailey Travis scored off a 35-yard free kick. This tied the game at 1-1. The Eagles continued to apply pressure in the last ten minutes and finally found their game-winning goal from Michkiosky, who scored with a mere 14 seconds left in the game off an assist from
Jubilee Zevenbergen.
Emily Aspden was the Yotes' lone goal-scorer.
Northwest head coach
Bryan Chud summarized, "I was not pleased with the way we played the first half, but the response in the second half was fantastic. We pressured them for the entire second 45 minutes and deserved the goals we got. I am extremely proud of the effort and with the way we played the second half. Now we'll look forward to our final regular season game against Rocky Mountain on Sunday."
