KANSAS CITY, Mo. – It's an exciting week for the Northwest University women's soccer program. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially announced the teams for the 2018 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round. The Opening Round will take place on 15 campus locations on Saturday November 17, 2018.
On Saturday, the Eagles will face the No. 5 Vanguard Lions in Costa Mesa, Calif. The Lions went undefeated in the Golden State Athletic Conference with an 8-0 record. Vanguard had 14 wins and 2 losses on the season. The Lions' top scorer, Marielisa Hallam, has led the team with 11 goals on the season.
The Eagles earned a spot in the National Tournament after defeating Eastern Oregon in the Conference Tournament and finishing in 1
st place. The Eagles started the season slow and found themselves in a hole with a 0-5 record. Since then, the Eagles have really kicked it in gear and are currently 11-8-2. Northwest University showed their strength during the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament when they outscored their opponents 7-0 in three games.
