Eagles Dig in for the Win Against Evergreen

KIRKLAND, Wash. –The Geoducks (4-9 overall, 0-5 CCC) jumped on the Eagles (10-7 overall, 2-3 CCC) early, quickly taking an 11-0 lead to start the game, but Northwest University held on for a 67-64 victory.

Northwest University had a one-point margin to lead the first half 30-29. The game came down to the final 20 seconds, when Evergreen was looking for a three pointer to tie the game. After utilizing several screens but being unable to find anyone open, Brandon Kohler drove the ball to the hoop for a layup, leaving only 2.7 seconds on the clock. Evergreen quickly fouled and then tried to convert a last second shot but failed.

Despite being outshot 53% to 39%, the Eagles found a way to end the night with a win. They spread out their scoring among four players who scored in the double digits. Ryan Ricks led the Eagles with 14 points, Josh Meyer was right behind him with 13 points, and Hussayn Ford and Nick Navarro each came up with 10 points. Ford recorded his 13th double-double of the year with 11 rebounds.

Evergreen's Ryan Quigley had 19 points and four rebounds on the night.

Northwest University's head coach Jeff Drinkwine commented, "After a week of finals, a long road trip, and a few injuries, our guys found a way to battle for the win. I am proud of the tenacity these players have to tough it out when the game is on the line. It was a great win for us, and I am looking forward to the Christmas break so our guys can recover and get ready for Corban on December 29."
