Kirkland, Wash. – In what was an intense game from start to finish, Northwest University (10-12, 2-8 CCC) lost in the final ten seconds as No. 14 Oregon Tech (17-5, 8-2 CCC) won 69-68.

The Eagles went up early in the first half, at one point leading by 12 after a three from Daniel Ghebremichael. The Owls slowly chipped away in the second half, though, taking a one-point lead with 5:40 left in the game. The Eagles responded with eight straight points, including two consecutive three-pointers from Ryan Ricks. However, the last two and a half minutes belonged to the Owls, who continued to execute on their end and foul Northwest's weaker free throw shooters on the defensive end. After a layup from Oregon Tech's Mitchell Fink brought the Owls to within one, they forced a turnover in the final ten seconds and scored the go-ahead basket to win the game 69-68.
Â
Hussayn Ford (19 points, 13 rebounds) and the rest of the Eagles' starters scored 63 of the Eagles' 68 points.
Josh Meyer and Ryan Ricks both tallied 13 points, and Ricks collected nine rebounds as well.

Northwest head coach
Jeff Drinkwine commented, "We are a young team, and we need to learn how to close out games and make our free throws down the stretch. Oregon Tech is a quality team, very well coached and very well disciplined. We have to play almost faultless to beat solid teams like Oregon Tech."
