KIRKLAND – Northwest starts the second half of the Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball schedule this weekend with home matches against Multnomah and Warner Pacific in the Kristi Brodin Pavilion.
Multnomah visits Friday at 7 p.m. with WPU coming in for a 5 p.m. tilt on Saturday.
Northwest, which has already completed its Walla Walla series, is 6-5 against the league heading into the back half. MU is 2-9 overall and 1-9 in the league, while Warner Pacific comes in at 3-11 overall and 2-8 in the CCC.
The MU Lions were quieted by Northwest in September, 3-0, as the Eagles scored the 25-9, 25-14, 25-19 win.
Tatiana Ensz had 13 kills, and
Cristina Hegarty had 17 digs for NU, which also recorded a dozen aces. Danae Stokes led MU with six kills, and Alyssa Mehalovich added 13 digs for the Lions.
Northwest started conference play last month with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-18 win at Warner Pacific.
Hannah Lord had eight kills, and
Kylie Szczepanski had eight blocks to lead NU. Haley Yoder had 10 kills for Warner Pacific.
Hannah Lord leads the Eagles with 2.81 kills per game and 163 kills on the season.
Keann White (2.31) and Abi Broussard (2.26) also get more than two kills per set. Lord is sixth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference in kills per set.
Northwest has two players in the Cascade Collegiate Conference top three in hitting percentage. Abi Broussard is second in the CCC and 31
st nationally at .319, and
Keann White is third in the league at .287. The Eagles sport a .218 hitting percentage.
Courteney Carr, with 6.51 assists per set, is sixth in the CCC in that category.
Anna Saelens has come on strong in conference games, averaging 4.26 sets per game.
Broussard leads NU and the Cascade Collegiate Conference with .470 aces per game. She is 49
th in the NAIA. Broussard has 29 aces, and NU has 117 this season. Saelens and Carr have 16 apiece, and
Tatiana Ensz and
Hannah Michaels each have 15.
Cristina Hegarty leads the Eagles and is fifth in the conference with 4.48 digs per game with 269 of the team's 868 digs this season.
The Eagles average 2.16 blocks per game, which is 34
th in the NAIA. Broussard averages 1.03 per game, which is fifth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference and 45
th in the NAIA.
Kylie Szczepanski averages .98, which is seventh in the CCC.
Multnomah got its second win of the season Sunday with a five-set victory at Walla Walla to snap a nine-match slide. The Lions are led by Taryn Frey, who averages 1.84 kills and .31 blocks per game.
Warner Pacific has lost four of its last five matches and plays at Evergreen State on Friday before coming to Kirkland. Grace Buchanan leads the Knights with 2.53 kills per game, while Haley Yoder is averaging 2.42 kills.
