Mountaineers Hold Off Eagles, 2-1

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Northwest allowed two first-half goals and came up short in the second half in a 2-1 loss at Eastern Oregon Friday.

"It's another game where we did not come out to play in the first half and paid for it," said NU Coach Gary McIntosh. "The second half was a different story, but we could not find a way to get that second goal. We have not put together two halves of soccer, and that is what is hurting us. Now, we're on to the next game."

Jorge Chavez broke a scoreless tie in the 13th minute, and Oscar Munoz made it 2-0 in the 26th minute for the Mountaineers.

Gian Herrera scored for the Eagles with an assist from Elliot Misic in the second half.

The Eagles were outshot 11-6, with Herrera taking a team-high two shots.

Alexander Thiehofe had a pair of saves in the setback.

Now 7-7-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Eagles play at College of Idaho at 11 a.m. (Pacific time) Saturday.
