Eagles Knock Off No. 11 EOU for 13th Straight Win

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Northwest took a big step forward with a 2-1 road win at No. 11 Eastern Oregon Friday night.

The Eagles, with the win, improved to 9-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference and may replace the Mountaineers in the NAIA Top 25. The victory extended the team's winning streak to 13 games.

With opportunities at a premium, the Eagles scored on two of their three shots.

"Today's result was a complete team effort from top to bottom," said NU coach Bryan Chud. "Our focus and desire were superb, and we knew it would have to be to beat an excellent team like Eastern. I am extremely proud of the entire squad, and now we will refocus quickly for College of Idaho tomorrow!"

Rylee Rassier scored the opening goal in the 23rd minute with a nice pass from Olivia Morris.

That score stood until the second half when Morris scored to make it 2-0.

Sarah Mitchell got the Mountaineers on the scoreboard with 24 minutes to play, ending NU's bid for a sixth consecutive shutout.

Kat Sanchez racked up six saves in the win.

Now 13-2 on the season, the Eagles face College of Idaho at 1:30 p.m. (Pacific) Saturday in Caldwell, Idaho.
