KIRKLAND – Tenth-ranked Southern Oregon stopped Northwest's four-match win streak with a 3-1 win in the Kristi Brodin Pavilion Saturday, 25-19, 25-20, 21-25, and 25-14.

"All credit to the top 10 team in the gym tonight," said NU Head Coach Steven Bain. "I was impressed with Southern Oregon's effort and intensity when the sets were on the line, and when they decided to put us away in the fourth set, we were unable to respond. Still, there is much to be learned from the challenge we faced tonight, so if we remain committed to the process, we can use the opportunity to make changes and continue to improve."

The Raiders used a 5-0 run in the first set to break a 5-5 tie and never trailed again in that game.Â

In the second set,
Tatiana Ensz had a block and a kill in a 4-0 NU run to tie the score at 15-15, but SOU got separation with a 6-1 run and held off a late Northwest charge.

The Eagles took care of business in the third set. Up 11-10, Northwest took control with a 5-0 run that included a pair of
Eleanor Mason aces.Â

Vanessa Franke had a block and a kill during a 4-0 run that put the Eagles ahead 20-13.
Hannah Lord got the game-ending kill to turn back a 4-1 run by the Raiders.

The Eagles had a 5-2 lead in the fourth set, but SOU used a pair of 6-0 scoring sprees to finish the match.

Hannah Lord had 17 kills to lead the Eagles, while
Keann White and Abi Broussard collected nine each.
Anna Saelens had 24 assists, and
Courteney Carr added 18. Broussard had three aces.

Defensively, Broussard and
Sarah Howlett were in on four blocks, and
Cristina Hegarty pushed up 15 digs.

Now 8-9 overall and 6-5 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Eagles host Multnomah Friday in a 7 p.m. match.
