PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific University (14-12 overall, 10-9 CCC) shot a season's best from the field at 51% to beat the Eagles 89-71 on Friday night.
Northwest University (10-19 overall, 7-12 CCC) fell behind in the second quarter and could not keep up with the aggressive, fast-paced game of Warner Pacific. Sam Van Loo and Alyx Fast each tallied 12 points for the Eagles, and Andie Kristinat was right behind them contributing 11 points on the night.
Warner Pacific worked the paint tonight, outscoring the Eagles 30-16. Warner Pacific's shooting 51% from the field, compared to Northwest University's 39%, created a formula that was very difficult to beat. Warner's Deepika Kapil had an outstanding night, grabbing 16 rebounds and scoring 20 points. The Knights also benefitted from Emily Peters coming off the bench and scoring 16 points.
Northwest University head coach
Ken Crawford remarked, "This was a frustrating game for the Lady Eagles. Warner Pacific plays an up-tempo, pressing style. We were able to handle it most of the game, but our inconsistency hurt us. Now we go to Multnomah University to play our last regular season game, and then it's off to the playoffs!"
