Written by: Clayton Hashley

Klamath Falls, Ore. – Northwest University (15-16) upset Oregon Tech (24-7) in the CCC Tournament Quarterfinal presented by U.S. Bank. Oregon Tech is ranked No. 6 in the nation and seeded No. 1 in the tournament. The Eagles emerged triumphant at the end, with a score of 78-75.

The Eagles found themselves down 35-27 at the end of the first half but ended up tying the game in the middle of the second half after a three from Ryan Ricks. With five minutes left in the game, a free throw from Hussayn Ford put the Eagles up for good. Despite allowing two threes from OIT in the last 13 seconds, the win was theirs after a last-second three from OIT's Mitchell Fink rimmed out.

Northwest's Hussayn Ford had an outstanding performance in the win, tallying team highs in points, rebounds, and assists. He finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, shooting 10-16 from the field. Josh Meyer and Alex Smith had big contributions as well, with 19 and ten points, respectively. They also combined for ten rebounds.

Despite only suiting up eight players, the Eagles were bruisers in this game, scoring 46 of their 78 points in the paint and hitting only one three-pointer in the first half. In total, they shot 50% from the field, to OIT's 41%.

Northwest head coach Jeff Drinkwine remarked, "All the glory belongs to God for blessing this group of young men. They are resilient and really stepped up."

Up next after the win, the Eagles play No. 2 seeded College of Idaho on Saturday, February 23, in Caldwell, Idaho.
