Eagles’ Last Home Game Ends in Win

Written by: Clayton Hashley

Kirkland, Wash. – Northwest University (9-18, 6-11 CCC) had their last home game on Saturday night, beating the College of Idaho (12-12, 8-8 CCC) with a final score of 76-67.

Despite finding themselves down by three going into the second quarter, the Eagles used a 23-point second quarter to take the lead. The Yotes stormed back in the third, however, and tied the game going into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter proved to be the final separation for the Eagles, who made 14 free throws and scored 27 points in the fourth quarter alone. This brought them the nine-point victory.

It was senior night for the Lady Eagles, and senior Miranda Langenhorst had a great night, with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks. She also tied the school record of 1,021 career rebounds! Senior Mariah Stacona added nine points and five assists as well. Sam Van Loo, Livi Lindsey, and Alyx Fast all scored in double digits to help propel the Eagles to victory.

Northwest head coach Ken Crawford summarized, "This was an exciting win for the Lady Eagles tonight. A great crowd was on hand to see the victory and to honor our four seniors. Hayden Craig, Jessalyn Henry, Miranda Langenhorst, and Mariah Stacona were recognized, and their accomplishments were celebrated. It was a super night all around!"
