Eagles Lose in Double Overtime to No. 10 Eastern Oregon

Written by: Clayton Hashley

Kirkland, Wash. – Northwest University (8-18, 5-11 CCC) pushed the No. 10 Eastern Oregon Mountaineers (21-2, 15-0 CCC) to the very end, losing in double overtime 94-91.

Northwest's Miranda Langenhorst and Mariah Stacona led their team in scoring, with 27 for Langenhorst and 21 for Stacona. Andie Kristinat and Alyx Fast contributed as well, with 11 and ten points, respectively.

With six minutes left in regulation, the Eagles found themselves down by fourteen points. A 15-1 run to end the quarter, including two three-pointers from Mariah Stacona in the final two minutes, pushed the game into overtime. A close first overtime period ended with a tip-in from the Mountaineers with fifteen seconds left in the game, and Northwest was unable to convert for the win on the offensive end.

In the second overtime period, Eastern Oregon held off a valiant effort from the Eagles, especially from Stacona, who hit two threes and tallied 11 points in the second overtime alone. The Mountaineers finished ahead by three, however, after the Eagles missed two shots that would have tied the game.

Eastern Oregon's Maya Ah You Dias had 45 points and 17 rebounds in the game, including 10-11 from the free throw line.

Northwest head coach Ken Crawford commented, "I am really proud of the Lady Eagles tonight as we went into two overtimes with the number ten-ranked Eastern Oregon Mountaineers. What an exciting game in all aspects—great basketball, great crowd. Senior night is tomorrow night versus College of Idaho. Hope to see everyone there!"

A special note from this game: Miranda Langenhorst, who grabbed 13 rebounds in tonight's game, also got the 1,000 rebound of her career. Congrats to Miranda!
