Bellevue, Wash. – Northwest University (1-9, 0-4 CCC) was upended in extra innings by the University of British Columbia (4-3, 1-0 CCC) on Friday night. After the Eagles managed to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, the Thunderbirds gained the upper hand in the eighth inning to win the game 12-9.
 
At the end of the fifth inning, the game looked to be almost certainly done for the Eagles, who were down 8-1. The Eagles cannot be discredited, though, as they stormed back to tie the game by scoring seven runs in the final three innings of regulation and shutting out UBC in the same interval to force extra innings. The Thunderbirds had the clear advantage in the eighth, scoring four runs and holding the Eagles to one run.
 
Northwest's Alexis Contreras had three RBIs in the game, including a two-run homer in the sixth inning. Hayden Craig also had a homerun in the game. Carly Tighe led the Eagles in hits, getting a bat on the ball three separate times.
 
The umpires called the second game of the day due to cold weather conditions, so the Eagles went away without a shot at same-day redemption.
 
Head coach Pam Fink remarked, "Our pitchers threw well. We minimized walls and showed grit, coming up with the big hits. We need to have a short memory and come out fighting tomorrow."
